AlertAware

Â鶹ÊÓƵ uses AlertAware, an emergency notification system designed to deliver personalized emergency alerts to recipients.

You can choose to receive Â鶹ÊÓƵ emergency alerts via AlertAware through any of the following channels:

  • Email
  • Push notification from the AlertAware mobile app
  • Text message
  • Voice call

How to install

Instructions for employees

  • AlertAware app self-registration

    AlertAware app self-registration

    Complete the self-registration form by:

    • Scanning the QR code below using the camera on your mobile device.

    • Filling out the using your web browser.

    In the form:

    1. Enter your first name.

    2. Enter your last name.

    3. Enter your ontariotechu.ca institutional email address.

    4. Enter your mobile phone number; this entry is required if you intend to receive SMS text or voice call alerts.

    5. Enter employee PIN 2003.

    6. Create a password and enter.

    7. Review the Terms and Conditions and check the selection box to agree to them.

    8. Select Submit.
  • Registration confirmation

    After submitting the form, you will see a confirmation message on the registration page that says Registration complete! Please check your email to complete your account setup.

  • Sign in via email
    1. Go to your Â鶹ÊÓƵ email account to receive your New Invitation email from no-reply@alertaware.com.

    2. In the email, select Complete Account Setup.

    3. Sign in to AlertAware using your Â鶹ÊÓƵ email address and the password you created.
  • Select preferences
    1. Select language (top-right dropdown option; default option is English).

    2. Opt in or out of push notifications (mobile app alerts): Select Yes or No, then select Proceed.

    3. Location access: Select No (only used when the app contains a reporting option), then select Proceed.

    4. Opt in or out of SMS notifications: Select Yes or No, then select Proceed.

    5. Opt in or out of voice notifications: Select Yes or No, then select Proceed.

    6. Opt in or out of email notifications: Select Yes or No, then select Proceed.

    7. If using your computer, after confirming AlertAware preferences, select your name from the top right corner, then select Log out.
  • Install the AlertAware app

    If you opted to receive push alerts, install the AlertAware Mobile App on your mobile device.

    1. Search for AlertAware Mobile in the or .

    2. Install the app on your device. (You will receive an email telling you that a new device login has been detected. No action is required.)

    3. AlertAware will then ask if you would like to allow it to send you Critical Alerts; select Allow if you would like to receive alerts even when you have your device set to Do Not Disturb.

    4. Sign in to the AlertAware app by entering your registered email address and password, then select Sign In.

    5. Enter student PIN 2000.

    6. Create a password and enter.

    7. Review the Terms and Conditions and check the selection box to agree to them.

    8. Select Submit.

    7. If using your computer, after confirming AlertAware preferences, select your name from the top right corner, then select Log out.

    7. Your visitor subscription to AlertAware will expire in 60 days.

    8. Select Submit
